The point Donna, is that when it comes to spirituality many people talk like they have a clue, but don't and we need to learn to discern the ones who do know, from the ones who don't. It is just simple common sense. You wouldn't go see a doctor that you thought was clueless when it came to medicine. You ask critical questions of your other professional service providers. But when it comes to gurus and spiritual teachers we have no ability to discern at all. We just sit and accept, justifying and accepting nonsense. I mean for God's sake, Law of Attraction? What a bunch of BS is that. One man, George W. Bush, stuck it to all the passive attractors out there when he and the rest of the PTB torpedoed the global economy by transferring a few trillion dollars of public funds into private hands

So my point, when it comes to listening to people in white robes and angel wings, use your brain. Discern. Be critical. Learn to identify the snake oil salesmen because frankly, when it comes to spiritual stuff, there are a lot of them. Ask questions and if they can't answer those questions, if they dissemble and confabulate, if they do everything in their power to redirect attention from the issue, take your money and run.

So I suppose my question here is, why should we defend people that we think are selling snake oil? Are you working for some of them maybe?

Your assumption being there is only 1 type of spiritual experience!? You seem to be expending a lot of energy to make a point, which is what? For that answer, defend the individuals you attack.
